“The world that I lived in was a very unequal world, and unjust. The whites were on top. You might be a good doctor, but if you are an Asian, you world be under a white doctor who’s not as good” (Extracted from Lee KuanYew, The Man and His Ideas by Han Fook Kwang, Warren Fernandez and Sumiko Tan, Times Editions Pet Ltd, 1998. Reproduced with permission.)
-Quite familiar right, this is copy from secondary 3 social studies textbook. Every times, Students will just read though that small little phase taken from our senior minister Lee Kuan Yew and never give a though why the white are above us, they just know the white above us and they are going to accept it.
- WHY, this three-letter word will be so constantly remind by our humanity teacher but we still haven ask ourselves why the white last time above us. I though for a while and cant find a more suitable answer then this letter word “ Powerful”. Is it during in the past, the white can control our grandparent because the white are more larger in size, in firearm, or in cash?
- No, all these are just part of the illusion playing part of our mind. The way that they are powerful in is controlling people mind. The white just simply make use all their best resources and show us an illusion that all of them are too powerful to against it and make our grandparent believe if we follow the white, we can get more cash and lead to a wealthy life. These ways, the white just have to work smart and the Chinese have to work hard for living.
-Therefore, white are always above us until World War 2. Lucky (or not), Japan show us Asian also can be as strong as the white or even better a lot, this lesson we must remember well and keep it in our heart that our grandparent use their blood for the exchange for this lesson.
